18th Century Undergarment Reconstruction
The shift was completely hand stitched, using historically accurate fabric, thread and sewing technique.
The two under petticoats were draped on a dress form, with machine-stitched side seam and hand-stitched binding.
The pair of stays were based on Patterns of Fashion 5. It was made of one layer of cotton sateen, two layers of canvas and one layer of linen lining. It consists of 108 reed boning and 48 hand-stitched eyelet holes, as accurate to the period.
The panier were based on Patterns of Fashion 5. It was constructed in a more modern manner, as the boning channels were made with sturdy twill tape.
